The submission format should be a Word file, A4 size, 2.5 cm margin, in 11 point Arial font, double spaced. The maximum length according to the type of article is indicated in the article structure section.

  1. FIGURES AND TABLES

Tables can be sent at the end of the manuscript (with their respective numbering). Figures used should be sent in individual files and in the editable format that was created for later editing for diagramming purposes. In both cases, calls to tables and figures should be placed within the content of the manuscript.

Figures: include statistical graphs, diagrams, maps, photographs or graphs. TIFF or JPG formats are accepted at a resolution greater than 600 dpi or 300 pixels, numbered correlatively. Statistical graphs and flowcharts can be presented in Excel format or in the statistical packages used. The legends of the microphotographs should indicate the magnification and method of coloring. Maps should have a scale. In the figures where the faces of the patients are shown, a dark band should be placed to cover the eyes so as not to allow the identification of the patient, and the authors should attach the written authorization of the patient or his/her legal representative giving his/her consent for the publication of the photos. If a previously published figure is included, the source of origin must be indicated and the written permission of the copyright holder must be submitted.

Tables: they must contain the necessary information both in the content and in the title in order to be interpreted without resorting to the text. They must be arranged in Arabic numerals and in Word or Excel format. Only one horizontal line will be accepted, which will be used to separate the heading from the body of the table; in no case should vertical lines be included. The footers of the tables must have the meaning of all abbreviations and symbols used.

In the heading of each row:

  • If there is numerical data indicate the units of measurement.

In the body of the table:

  • No cell should be left blank.
  • If the data is nothing, it is indicated with 0.
  • If there is no data, hyphens or abbreviations should be used (ND: not available or NA: not applicable).
  • Verify that the data in the table matches internally.
  • Verify that data in the table agree with the text.

Table footnotes:

  • Statistical evaluations.
  • Sources of information.
  • Use as call letters or signs.
  1. REFERENCES

They must be referenced in the text as follows: if it is a citation: (1) or if more than one: (5-8), in superscript, in parentheses and ordered correlatively according to the place of appearance. The Vancouver format should be used according to ICMJE standards (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/uniform_requirements.html). If there are more than six authors, the first six should be placed followed by et al. The DOI should also be included at the end of the reference, if any.

STYLE CONSIDERATIONS

The journal uses the International System of Units. To separate decimals, commas should be used for the Spanish version and periods for English. Scientific names of species should be placed in italics. When abbreviations are used, the meaning should be placed in parentheses at the time of the first mention. Percentages should include only one decimal place (30.1%), for association measures such as OR and their confidence intervals two decimal places are recommended (OR: 2.15; 95% CI: 1.10-3.41), for p values three decimal places are recommended (p=0.009). When referring to several authors in the body of the article, indicate the surname of the first author followed by et al.
